I figured out cap friendlys higher cap estimate...
They have 13 forwards, 8 d and 2 goalchies...not counting marner. So cap space is actually 4.7ish plus hortons ltir. So 10 is the magic number.
That's for the poster in the last thread that was confused why his number was different. |

She did Steve so dirty in Season 2.
I haven't started season 3 yet. Waiting to watch it with my brother. |

Really have a hard time believing they get Mitch for less than 10.
I suspect Ceci and his cap hit gets buried once guys get healthyv or once it becomes apparent that Mitch wants money.
Mitch will get 10.5 per over 4 |

I'm going to throw this out there from the last blog:
If you assume Marner @ 10.5m, the leafs are at 82.87m (including Kessel's $1.2m retained) with Horton's $5.3 LTIR not deducted from that. With the LTIR for Horton considered, there's an additional $4m or so that can be added if they had to improve upon a Marner offer or seek backup goaltending. The important part of that money, I think, is that any flex money there along with Ceci's cap expense, and the increase, can go towards Muzzin/Barrie/Dermott next year.
1. Johnsson (3.4) - Matthews (11.63) - Nylander (6.96): (22 million)
2. Hyman (2.25) - Tavares (11) - Marner (10.5): (23.75 million)
3. Mikheyev (0.93) - Kerfoot (3.5) - Kapanen (3.2): (7.63 million)
4. Shore (0.75) - Spezza (0.7) - Moore (0.78): (2.23 million)
S: Petan (0.78) - Engvall (0.93): (1.7 million)
1. Rielly (5) - Barrie (2.75): (7.75 million)
2. Muzzin (4) - Ceci (4.5): (8.5 million)
3. Dermott (0.86) - Liljegren (0.86): (1.73 million)
S: Holl (0.68): (.68 million)
G: Andersen (5) - Hutchinson (0.7): (5.7 million) |

Yup, they have 24 players listed on the active roster in Cap Friendly (1 extra forward).
Taking away one of the lowest caphits (~$675-$700k), leaves us with $9.75-$10Mil remaining once Horton is on LTIR.
Any additional cushion we gain with other LTIR injuries to start the season would be a bonus.
I am optimistic that Marner camp will sign a 6-8 year deal in the $9.5Mil range. I am not a fan of 5 year deal as it would mean Mathews, Nylander and Marner all expiring at the same year. |

I don't pretend to know the future, or what's going through the GMs' heads, but one thing I would bet on is that Marner's, Matthews', and Tavares' contracts expire in different years. |

That works. Just wondering if this D is better with Barrie in, Gardiner out. Ceci in, Zaitsev out. |

I don’t think a 26 goal scorer deserves that kind of cash. Not a centre. Doesn’t score goals. I think he deserves 9-9.75... |

Just a few people that just hate everything. Never happy.
With Max and JFJ going on, all we need is Prince and Uggy and this place will have officially gone full retard!
(frank), I am so happy Max has ZERO to do with the real decisions made by the Leafs.
**EDIT**
Now throw in a little kaptaan |

Ceci will be babied as #6 dman. No worries. Barrie is so much better getting the puck out of his own end than Z and Gardiner. I’m good |

I honestly think the only way he gets that deal is if someone offer sheets him at that amount and the leafs have to match.
10.5 for four years would be an overpayment that walks him straight to UFA.

Nobody talks hockey anymore. It’s all dollars and cap space. And we don’t pay a nickel of it so who cares.
Last year it was all about taxes being the reason for Tavares not coming here. They were bang on with that one. |

tavares will never sign here
and if he does, he's overrated
and if he has a career year, he got lucky
and if he's not, his caphit will prevent us from signing the other young stars
and if it doesn't...1967 |
